About

A quiet morning screen for e-readers

InkMorning redraws the sleep screen of your Kindle, Kobo, reMarkable or BOOX every morning: a calendar with today circled, the lunar date, your city’s weather, a word to learn or a museum masterpiece, made for paper-like screens.

Why

An e-reader spends most of its life asleep, showing the same picture. We thought that screen could be useful and beautiful instead: something new to glance at with your morning coffee, without another app asking for attention.

How it works

Every image is drawn on our server for your exact screen: the right pixel size, sharp type, and gray reduced to the 16 levels an e-ink panel shows, so there is no banding or blur. Live designs read the date, the lunar calendar, a weather forecast for your city or your own countdowns, and the same image goes out by the KOReader plugin, a private link or a daily email.

Where the art comes from

Artworks come from public-domain and openly licensed collections: the Art Institute of Chicago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NASA, the Smithsonian, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Denmark and others. Each artwork page names the creator, the collection, the license and a link to the source. Weather data is from MET Norway.

What we promise

  • No ads and no watermarks, on any plan.
  • Light on your reader: no background service, no Wi-Fi turned on behind your back.
  • Only the data needed to run it. Your city is stored at city level, never your exact location.
  • Easy to leave: unpair, export your data or close your account from your account page.
