Setting up
Which e-readers work?
Kindle, Kobo, reMarkable, BOOX, PocketBook and any reader that runs KOReader. Each supported model has a profile with its exact resolution; any other size can be entered by hand.
Do I need to jailbreak my Kindle?
Only for the KOReader plugin. Without a jailbreak you can still download today’s image, open your private daily link in the Kindle browser, or get it by daily email through Send to Kindle (Pro).
Does it drain the battery?
No. The plugin never turns Wi-Fi on by itself. It checks for a new image once a day, when the reader wakes up or connects to Wi-Fi anyway, and downloads one small grayscale file.
Is it safe for my e-reader?
Yes. The plugin is a normal KOReader plugin: it only saves an image file and sets KOReader’s own sleep screen setting. It does not touch the system software.
What if there is no Wi-Fi in the morning?
Your reader keeps the last image it has. Nothing is blanked or refreshed over and over; the new image arrives the next time it is online.
How do I remove it?
Choose Unpair device in the plugin to restore your previous sleep screen, then delete the inkmorning.koplugin folder. You can also remove the reader from your Devices page at any time.
Do I need an account?
Not to download the free daily image. An account lets you pair a reader, keep favorites and choose what it shows.
Where do the artworks come from?
Public-domain and openly licensed collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago, The Met, NASA and the Smithsonian. Every artwork page names the creator, the collection and the license.
Plans and payments
How many devices can I use?
One on the free plan, up to five with Pro, and as many as you like with Founders. A paired reader, a private link and a daily email each count as one device.
Can I try Pro first?
Yes. With a free account you can unlock three premium wallpapers or live designs for 7 days each and put them on your reader. No card needed.
How do I cancel Pro?
From your account page. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Your data
Can I download or delete my data?
Yes, from your account page: Download my data gives you a JSON file of everything we hold, and Close my account erases it and unpairs every reader.
What do you store about my location?
Only the city you pick for the weather, rounded to about 1 km. Never a GPS position.
