The reMarkable 2 screen is 1404 × 1872 pixels in portrait orientation (width × height). A sleep screen image at exactly that size is shown pixel for pixel, with no stretching, blurry scaling or black bars.
Tips for e-ink: use grayscale PNG, keep strong contrast, and avoid fine gradients, which can show visible banding on 16-level gray screens. Every InkMorning download is already rendered this way for the remarkable-2 preset.
How the reMarkable sleep screen works
reMarkable’s settings have no option for a custom sleep screen. The image shown while the tablet sleeps is a system file, /usr/share/remarkable/suspended.png, which can only be replaced over SSH. That is unofficial, at your own risk, and software updates can put the original image back.
