How to set a custom screensaver on BOOX

Short answer

BOOX supports custom screensavers without extra apps. On recent firmware go to Settings → Desktop & Screen saver → Screen saver, add your image and select it. You can set one image for standby and another for power-off.

Steps

Download a wallpaper at your tablet’s resolution. For the BOOX Note Air, choose the BOOX Note Air preset (1404 × 1872). For other models, use Custom size with the resolution from your model’s specifications.

Copy the file to the tablet over USB, or download it directly with the tablet’s browser.

Open Settings → Desktop & Screen saver and tap Screen saver.

Add your image and select it. You can select several; BOOX shows a different one each time.

Choose whether it applies to standby, power-off, or both, then lock the tablet to check.

Settings names and locations differ between BOOX firmware versions. If you can't find the option, search Settings for “screen saver”.

Tips for a crisp result

Match the resolution exactly so BOOX doesn’t crop or scale your image.
Grayscale PNGs with strong contrast look best, even on color Kaleido screens.
BOOX may overlay a clock or status text; some firmware lets you turn that off in the same menu.

Does the KOReader plugin work on BOOX?

KOReader runs on BOOX as an Android app, and on Android the system draws the sleep screen, so KOReader (and our plugin) can’t replace it. The InkMorning plugin can still download and update images on the tablet; you then pick them in the BOOX screensaver setting.
